In plain language: Use DriveLog honestly, keep your account secure, and don't misuse the service. Your logbook data is yours — we're just storing it safely for you.
By creating an account or using DriveLog, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the service. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you and DriveLog.
DriveLog is a web-based mileage tracking and travel logbook application designed for use in South Africa. The service helps users record business and personal vehicle trips to support tax deduction claims under the South African Revenue Service (SARS) rules for travel allowances and company car benefits.
DriveLog is a record-keeping tool. We do not provide tax advice. For questions about your specific tax obligations, consult a registered tax practitioner.
You agree not to use DriveLog to:
Important: Submitting false records to SARS constitutes tax fraud under the Tax Administration Act, 28 of 2011. DriveLog keeps server-side logs that may be subpoenaed. Use the service honestly.
You own your trip data. By storing it with DriveLog, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, back up, and display your data solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim any ownership over your logbook records.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter. DriveLog is not responsible for logbook errors, omissions, or SARS disallowances arising from inaccurate records.
We aim to keep DriveLog available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to notify users of planned downtime.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and the ability to export your data before shutdown.
DriveLog may offer free and paid plans. The features included in each plan are described on the pricing page. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. If you are on a paid plan, changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your card details. Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe it was made in error.
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, DriveLog is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for:
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
You may close your account at any time from the Settings page, which permanently deletes all your data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice for serious violations. On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these terms shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, or any other applicable South African consumer legislation.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or a notice in the app. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
